Plan on using this to hold all of our wooden spoons, spatulas, etc in the kitchen. Lots of curl on this one!

Maple, 8” diameter x 6 3/8” high x 3/8” thick, sanded to 400 grit and will have several coats of Minwax Gloss Wipe-On Poly. Only has one coat on it at this time so can take photos that show the grain without being hidden by gloss.

Thanks for looking!

Absolutely beautiful Steve. I was going to ask the same thing if they were quartersawn? They look good.

That's a fine looking crock Steve. I like the shape and especially the slope of the rim.

Well, that's a crock. Just had to say it.

Nice bowl. Being that deep did you have any trouble turning the corner at the bottom. Always a tough area for me.

Nice job, it will look real nice on your counter.

I like that alot and it gives me a good idea for great grandma's x-mas present---it sure looks like a nicer place to keep her wooden spoons rather than across my backside all the time:eek:

It turned out great Steve!

Thanks for your help and it was nice to talk you on the phone.

Thanks everyone for the kind words - I appreciate it!

Pete - it was good talking to you today! Let me know if a new cap fixes your pump! Hard to troubleshoot anything over the phone but am pretty sure that is the problem!

Steve,

Looks perfect for holding the kitchen tools! Good idea. And, as ususal, very nicely done. I haven't turned anything for about 6 weeks because I've been building a four door / four drawer kitchen cabinet for my daughter out of soft maple. Soft maple... now there's a misnomer! My first cabinetry attempt and it's taking a loooong time. Anyway, I'm gaining a true appreciation for maple. It machines nicely, plenty durable (read hard), randomly nice figure, and just downright pretty wood to look at when topped with a natural finish. I also have some spalted maple blanks saved for some bowl work over the winter:).

Very nice clean colored curly Maple Steve, Wow that's a mouthfull.
Hope you have some weight in the bottom to keep it upright with all the spoons and spatulas that can fit in there ;)
Nice subtle curve and a clean rim, sure makes for a nice form Steve, very well done :D

I just looked in the kitchen at LOMLs storage container, and it is a small crock. It has a flat bottom, is appx 6" dia x six orseven in high. she has as many tools in that as I do in the shop. It holds the tools because of the flat bottom. Love yours, and hope it isn't tippy.:)

Gret job Steve. I love the curve of this piece. You did an outstanding job with the curve at the bottom it looks like the piece is floating in the picture.

Excellent "crock" Steve, nice form and nice wood. Have you ever thought about a little pyrography on it ? Don't really know why I asked.
