Here's a rough turning I did this week on a friends Robust lathe. You've got to love those Robust Lathes!:) It started out as a fresh cut 16" dia X 32" long Hard Maple Log,over 100 lbs.
I lost about 12" from a bad internal crack from one end:mad:. It ended up about 18" tall & 12" dia. hollowd to a 3/8" wall thickness

Whoa, now thats a serious chunk of wood there. Nice job, I would have been scared to death! How did you steady that monster while turning it? Steady rest?

The Robust is a Great Machine!!! The Owner of it actually turns Really Large 200 to 400 lb. pieces frequently. The machine runs smoothly even with those really Huge pieces on it. I could never afford such a machine but my friends been letting me use his in between some of his turnings.:D
Thanks for the comments on my piece. Just hope it drys without to many problems.
