Well, don't be too hard on me, I was not able to try the oil finishes some of you suggested. Time did not permit. So here it is with five coats of spray can lacquer. Learned alot on this project. My first half-blind dovetails. Mortise and tenon joinery. Top held with figure 8's. Have a great day and thanks for all the help I get here on this forum. You folks are great.

Lars-Thanks for the comments. The wood came from a hardwood supplier named HH & NK in Kings Mountain, NC. 704-739-6914. Great folks and usually have plenty of ambrosia maple.

Chris,

Very nice. I know I have seen plans for this style of table in various places. Did you use a specific set of plans for this or just kinda wing it?

Jeff, thanks for the comments! I have not seen a plan for this table. I just, as you say, "winged it". I put tapers on the legs and used a chamfer bit for a portion of the leg edges, stopping 2" short of the bottom of each leg. Used a beading bit for the aprons and top. If you build one, I'm sure you can improve on it. Have a great day.

Thanks for the details. I'll keep this design in mind. Right now I have to finish off the router table I have started on. An hour here, an hour there. Seems like it's tough to get any large blocks of time in the workshop.

Truly a unique piece, Chris! I've been working with a lot of Ambrosia Maple lately, but none of it has the intensity of your piece! Very nice attention to detail. Certainly an eye-catcher and I'm sure it will remain so for very many years to come!
