Any particular problem resawing purple heart or chenchen? Have read that both woods are too hard to resaw with BS. Any validity to that?

Chris,

I've resawn lots of Purpleheart, up to about 8 Inches with absolutely no problem, but never heard of Chenchen. The worst wood to resaw that I've experienced is Osage Orange. Had to break out the carbide blade to get through 11 inches of that yellow stuff!

Regards
Bob

It can be resawn, but is very hard on blades. If you sand through a wide belt, you'll need to take light passes at a bias. It will burn belts alot faster than maple.
