Hi all,

Yup it's coming.

I have had my eye on this thing for some time as a onsite

based bench. http://www.walko.nl/.

Great concept and why I think so.

In the future with energy and oil prices at a premium,
we at Swenson & Swenson are going to have to rethink
our approach to staying competitive.

One of the big deals will be transporting less but more efficient tools to a job site. In smaller more fuel efficient vehicles.

This might not be practical for the home shop. but for those of us
who often take our gig on the road, or for the poor bachelor in the
kitchen/condo set up... this will be big.

Thanks for posting this. I had never heard of the Walko before, but it certainly looks interesting. Kind of like an uber-Workmate. I'll have to keep an eye on this. Thanks for the link.

It looks like FestoolJunkie will be the sole distributor in the US for this product. He has some additional information and pricing on his web site (http://www.festooljunkie.com/blog/fj-current-events/walko-workbench-systems-come-to-north-america/).

The Walco looks great but the problem is that is the way Festool
Started. When a sander I was using came apart in my in my hand
Per said "I will get a better one," With that first sander I was in love with
sanding again. Now we are up to you know what in Festools. I see it now.
Walco walls as far as you can see.

That ain’t my daddy’s WorkMate.

Cool video. I can see how that would really help a pro at the job site.

That's a pretty kewel setup for the 'Ultimate' in portability. I can see the attraction to folks with businesses like yours, Per.

Hi all, I am the importer of the Walko and thought I would pass along a bit of information regarding when the Bench will be available.

Over the weekend, we will be retrieving the bench from U.S. customs, and begin the distribution to our dealer network next week. Currently, there are benches at Acetool on Long Island, Eagle Tools in Pasadena, Woodwerks in Columbus, OH, and Lincoln Hardwood and Tool in Lincoln, NE.

Tim

PS. And Bruce, you are exactly right..."this ain't your daddy's WorkMate"

The way I see it,
Daddy, yeah the old geezer.
He holds the accounts.
Just go buy me one
simple as that.

I saw the Walko at Eagle tools when I was buying a new jointer 2 weekends ago. Really didn't spend much time with it but the impressions I had were versatile and built like a tank.

I know this is an old thread but it looks like Woodcraft is also handling these now. Anybody got and tried one of these yet?

Bob,

Here you go. It appears that TimmyC was listening to you and has started the Obama, I mean FestoolJunkie Walko Stimulus package. I am surprised that you or Per have not posted about this as you should have received the same email I did. Anyway in order to save you some pennies and keep your new slippery slope a little less slippery just follow the yellow brick road, er link. :D http://www.festooljunkie.com/blog/

Fred

PS Did you post your cannon picture over here?

Ouch! I KNEW a price like that was coming!!! Otherwise,a well thought out design for a job site bench,or even one for in the shop, depending upon what work you do.

George,

You don't know from ouch as I bought two of the Walko 4's when they first hit the shores and paid full retail. However, I must say that they have actually been quite worthwhile and the first time I had to work on a door and was able to use my Walko to hold it in place while I planed it was well wonderful.

Very interesting concept. I would be interested in finding out more. I cannot read the language, however. How much is it supposed to be?

Doc,

Follow this link and you will see the prices on the Walko tables. http://www.festooljunkie.com/blog/

Fred

PS Festool Junkie has the North American rights so there is no other place to buy them unless he sets up another distribution agreement. I hope that this helps.

How does this differ from the Walko gear that Woodcraft has been selling? http://www.woodcraft.com/catalog/family.aspx?id=2021174
