I'm gaining on it...Slowly.
Every once in a while, you run across a piece of lumber, or a piece of veneer that just screams to be used in a project. I am making this tack box for dog grooming supplies, and being a Newfie owner, I wanted to do some type of Newf inlay, and a nautical theme. The compass rose on the back pretty well covered the nautical part, so I planned on doing a Newf inlay on the top. (I still am, but if I can get the template made, it will be different than usual)

Anyway, I needed to make the doors for the front, so I cut out the frames, and was going to use some nicey figured Cienjere veneer that I have. LOML sais that she thought it would look nice if I used walnut. So, I pulled out my stack of walnut veneer and started laying out a bookmatch. I didn't like the way it was looking so I turned the stack over and bookmatched the first pair of sheets that came off the stack. This is what I got: :D

Obviously, it still needs sanded, but I just about had a heart attack when I saw the grain pattern in that bookmatch.
