I started this segmented form about three years ago out of cheap pine and the excitement of a new table saw. Unfortunately at the time I only had a couple of tools and a lathe was way too fast to turn this. After launching it three times, I moved it to screw storage vessel status. Decided to mount it up on the MayoLite and turned it at about 120 RPM (as opposed to 750) and all went well. Since it was just a test piece I wasn’t too worried about sanding out all of the scratches, but the lessons were learned so watch out Bill W. and Maclom T., I’ve figured it out! (joking of course – there’s no chance you’ll see anything out of my workshop to the skill of theirs!). 10”x8”, oiled and Beall Buffed.

I like it Wayne. :)
The grain and the shape of the pieces seem to swirl - kind of like a tornado.
Good job.
