Grain Filler

Do you use grain filler before or after stain?

After. And many folks will put a wash coat of shellac on to seal the stain/dye prior to using the grain filler to insure that the filler doesn't alter the color of the wood. It also allows you to use a contrasting color for the filler for effect if you choose without "staining" your stain with the colored filler.
