Spin Tops

Hi All,
Can anyone that turns tops tell me how to make flip tops or whisteling tops?

Mel,
Assume by "flip tops" you mean the ones that turn upside down. If so, there is a dandy tutorial on this, the location of which someone else here will probably remember. The author makes scores of them, so he buys wood spheres about 1-1/2" dia., puts a sphere in a jam chuck, forstner drills (maybe 1" dia.) about 2/3 of the way through, drills a shallow (maybe 1/4" dia.) hole in the bottom of the larger hole and glues in a dowel. Fast and easy. Need to find that tutorial for correct dimensions.
