This is a lidded vessel, 10" x 3.5", turned from some Cottonwood that has a little curl and chatoyance in it. The finial is rosewood. Finished with deft spray can lacquer.

Nice one Curt, and I'm sure it looks better in real life, as the pictures never give the chatoyance as it really appears, thanks for showing :-))

Different form on this one! I like the way you recessed the lid - makes it part of the form and not just sitting on top of it. Beautiful wood! Can just imagine how it grabs the light!

Love the vessel. Not real kean on the finial. Think I peronally would like it better with just a knob on top. That's just me though. Wish I could get a handle what the difference is in the pieces that look right to me with a finial or not. Great work, as usuall, Curt. You've done it again.

Thanks for sharing. Every time I see a piece like this I am inspired to get out into the shop. Really beautiful work.

Nice work. The piece looks great with the finial to me. The combination of light coloring of the wood, and the simple shape of the form, even with the curl in the wood, would make me want to accent it, too, but thats just me. Everyone has a different taste, I guess.

Another beauty Curt. I am definitely going to have to try some of that cottonwood since we have a abundance of it out here.
