I haven't turned my lathe on for almost a month. But I finally got some turning in last night. This is just another goblet but the wood is kind of nice. I was picking through a stack of 2x2x24 pieces of cocobolo at MacBeaths hardwoods and they said I could have the pieces with sapwood for half price. I guess they didn't know that those are my favorites. So I bought all of them. Anyway, this is a goblet, cocobolo w/sapwood. 6.5" x just a hair under 2", just Briwax and buffed.

Heartwood side, Sapwood side, and sideview with both.

Pictures aren't very good. They're with my old camera. My wife must have hid the good one and she's not home to tell me that it's right under my nose.

Curt - you may have been off your lathe for almost a month but you sure haven't lost your touch! Great looking goblet! Really like the detail work on the stem, the variations in the color and grain of the wood and the overall proportions! Seriously nice work! Hope this means you will be turning (and posting) a little more often!

Hi Curt, nice goblet, I should like it, as I made one like that in March of 2006, only I had also 3 braided rings on the stem also, though I used some Rock Maple from my youngest sons place, so I'd say well done ;>))

That is a beauty Curt. I also like wood with sapwood on it.

So..., just wondering Curt; Have you ever made anything that wasn't stunning? This is really nice, especially the stem detail.
