Michael poster his sewer pipe pen, I thought I post a couple I've made recently that are a little different. These are made from wine bottle corks:
This is bloodwood and corks

This one is mesquite and corks. I also turned the finial, centerband and nib on this one.

The best thing is, it takes 2 bottles of wine for each pen!

Nice pens. What are you using for a finish?

I think they look pretty good...which prompts me to remember to pop a bottle of wine tonight!

Very nice work Paul! Really like the first pen - great color combination and the cork makes you look twice!

These look really great. How do you cut somthing as soft as cork without tearout?

There are two ways, I cut with a razor sharp skew.
Another method is use coarse sandpaper or as a gentleman that makes reel seats for fishing poles told me use drywall sanding screen.
Even cutting witha sharp skew once I get down to about 1/8" from the finish diameter I start sanding.
I bought some drywall sanding screen yesterday and plan to try it on the next one I make.

It is just another tool. I use it for brittle, and soft materials. :)
Nice pens.
