at lunch. Just to check out prices on there bandsaw blades. They had signs all over the place on the bigger Jet tools and Performix. The signs read Jet price increases 04/14/04 6% and 05/08/04 8%. 14.5% increase in 30 days. Geez.

Price of scrap steel and as a consequence steel or iron products is going through the roof. Buy now or wait for China to quit buying up all the scrap iron in the world. (and that may be a while)

WMH Tools, who makes Jet, Performix and Powermatic, put out the word some time ago that everything shipped after Apr 30 is going to have a price increase due to the increased costs in steel. That's why I was in a hurry to get my order in for my new Jet 1642 EVS before the price went up.

I was aware of the price increase of steel, just kind of hits home when you actually see it. I guess WC is just trying to show folks that it wasn't them leading the price changes.
