So I got my lathe on Friday and I couldn't wait to give it a go. So I picked up some cherry and went to town. Let's just say I learned a lot about how to fix catches. The finish is friction polish. Thanks for looking and pardon the photography.

Matt - congrats on getting your lathe and also on turning your first bowl! Not bad! Very nice looking wood! This being your first, you have to keep it! Be sure to sign and date your bowl! Have fun turning and be safe! Looking forward to seeing some more of your work!

Very nice job! Quite impressive for a first timer!

And like Steve mentioned, if you have any safety concerns please let us know. I have found that a little knowledge can be dangerous, and I have gotten myself into sketchy situations when I thought I knew what I needed to know.

Again, great work and keep making shavings!

Hutch

P.S. What kind of lathe do you have?

I have a the Jet 1220VS. Thus far I haven't had any problems with it. I would give a thumbs up for the Talon chuck.
Cheers
