In my limited experience with veneering, I've worked with walnut burl (which was a bit of a pain because of cracks/voids etc.) and clean, curly maple (which was a piece of cake because I didn't have to be quite as careful). I'm interested in using some mahogany crotch veneer for a project, so I was wondering if it's pretty straight-forward to use or if you need to worry about it easily cracking or having lots of little voids. Also, do you usually get the same chatoyance that you would from a thicker piece when using the veneer? I've used some curly maple veneer that practically glowed and some that looked more like formica :D

Thanks folks!
