Here is my latest entitled "African Water Carrier". The inspiration was a National Geographic photo of an African maiden (early teens) carrying a large water container on her head, perfectly balanced ... no hands ... walking down a dirt road.
Of course the "homage" is to Clay Foster whose friendship and influence on my work these past few years is clearly evident. I hope I have done him some small justice.
The piece is 46" tall, with a 4 inch thick piece of Indiana sandstone as a base. The body is Indiana walnut, the bowl is curly maple. Finish is wipe on polyacrylic, several coats.
