I got my dad a jet mini a few months ago to keep him out of trouble. I guess that backfired, he's really got the turning bug and is making a big mess! To contain the mess so we decided to make a workstation for the mini. Luck would have it my neighbor donated a bunch of wood, oak ply and Plexiglas shorts so we had an abundance of material to work with. Here’s a few pix of what we came up with. It came out much better than we had envisioned. No plans, just good old seat of the pants engineering with the scrap we had on hand. The sides fold down for access and the visor piece flips up.

Unfortunately we got a problem now… it looks too good to get dirty and keep in the shop! Would it be tacky to keep it on the coffee table in the living room?

The last pic is a little dish I made from some of the scraps my neighbor donated. It was going to be a cutting board until it did the slip and slide when I clamped it up. After planning it was too thin for a cutting board so I chopped it into squares and glued up the pieces in a alternating fashion with a piece of maple on the top and bottom.<O:p</O:p

Very nice job on both projects, though I think I'd put the dish on the coffee table and leave the lathe enclosure in the shop! :D

By the way, what's the "M" stand for? We're kinda' like family around here and Mr. Toupin is just a bit too formal, if you pardon my saying so.
