Jet mini lathe users is this normal?

Hello everyone just receaved my Jet mini lathe and was trying it out, used it for about 30-45min and got it off the table to set it in the floor and WHOA HOT MOTOR! is this normal?? Newbie on the lathe

Mine gets hot only after about 10-15 min :eek: . I am guessing it is normal???

I do try to keep the chips away from the motor as best I can so it gets air. :)

It seems to be an inherent problem with the Mini. Mine gets quite hot and I try to keep the motor clear of chips from time to time. I have had mine for 4 years and have used it very heavily - with no apparent problems.
