I was able to get a decent load of Fremont Cottonwood burl yesterday, the tree had been standing dead until a recent storm. 12 pieces in total ranging from approx 7 X 7 all the way up to 18 X 20. Some of it appears to be somewhat spalted and should be fun to turn.

Jason - congrats on the burl score! Strange looking stuff! Real curious how the wood looks once it is turned. Looking forward to seeing the finished product - one of these days!

Rally interesting looking wood. I've not turned any cottonwood, I am anxious to see what comes of it.

That storm we had must have restocked many turners around here. Figures I'd be called out of town for two days. I only saw one tree worth asking about and it was gone by the time I passed back on the way to get the chainsaw.
Now be honest, did you call up that storm just so you could get that burl Jason? hehe...nice haul.
