From day one when I moved into my house seven years ago I planned to replace the hollow core doors with solid raised panel doors. I've started this project in the kitchen by building replacements for two 36" wide bi-folds (four bi-fold sections in a 72" wide opening). My problem is I built the raised panel doors from red oak and they are much heavier than the hollow core doors. The pivots that attach the hollow core doors to the floor and top of the door opening are probably too flimsy to handle the weight of the new doors. I can probably reuse the overhead track since it shouldn't have to bear any weight. I've checked my usual hardware sources and Goggle searches but I have not found anything I can use.
So, I turn to the experts here. Anyone know where I can find heavy duty hardware for mounting these doors?
Thanks, Phil.
