I'm planning on heading down to Jackel on Saturday, May 15....I'll be purchasing over 100 BF of lumber so if anyone else would like to either come along/meet there (prefered) or have a request for some lumber....let me know. If you want me to pick up for you....I'll likely want payment up front (as lumber is not returnable....) and you'll have to take what I pick up. I'm fairly discerning when picking lumber but my abilities and tolerances are likely to be quite differnent than yours.

PM or email me.

I offer this because their pricing drops substantially once you purchase 100 bf and we don't all go buying 100 bf at a time (especially hobbyists)....for example:

0 - 49 BF 4/4 bubinga - $8/bf. 50 - 99BF: $6.25 100+ : $5.75.

genuine mahogany goes from $6.40 to $5.60 to $4.80 for 4/4 rough.

poplar for 4/4 goes $2.40 to $ 2.10 to $1.80.

It is mix and match...as in you can buy 10 BF bubinga and 90 BF poplar....

Tim,

I've never heard of this place...I guess they have good prices (the reason you are going), right? :)

I see some needs for maple, black & claro walnut, and the wife is a bit nuts about wenge. I prefer rough if available.

I'll email you and we can start a dialogue.

Global Wood Source? http://gobalwoodsource.com. They are in San Jose right at 101 and 880. I've only bought poplar from them, but their prices are a little better than what you quoted and there's no minimum. It wouldn't hurt to drop them an email and ask for a quote.

I've been there, Eric. Nice place but I guess I didn't pay attention to their wood prices. I did notice the 24" Agazzani, however! :D

Eric,

I just got off the phone with Pat at Global. Their prices are not better. They wanted $7.15 for 4/4 and $7.73 ofr 8/4 genuine mahogany. He said the price would drop "a little" after a couple hundred bf.

I just got back from there after picking up some wood they donated for the freedom pen program.

Nice people......
