I just saw that on CNN.com. Sure someone will get a very nice hunk o history.

Imaging turning a hunk of that and finding a musket ball? Wow.

I am 18 miles west of Gettysburg and travel through there twice a day Monday thru Friday. Never heard anything about it until now.

Just heard today they are turning the wood into indoor benches for the park. My Uncle had called about getting some of the wood, he said he just wanted a small piece to turn. The park person he spoke with told him, you and half the country would like a piece of that tree, sorry, but no.

A co-worker of mine knows one of the rangers personnally and he asked about getting some of the wood also for a few of us. He said the NPS or "the Board" was going to use it for fund-raising in the future and that the tree was locked away in an "undisclosed location".
