Hi Howard

I hadn't heard how the quit smokeing thing was going. I figured if I was wondering maybe some others would be wondering the same thing.

This is the power tool forum so I guess there should be something about power tools as well.

I have a short thin board attached at one end to a much thicker piece of wood (actualy the same piece of wood). The thin board isn't an even thickness nore is it perfectly flat. I have been using a ROS with 60 grit to try and flaten the board. This is slow going.

Any ideas about how I might flatten this board?

Thanks

re: flattening your board.

Why not clamp the board to a flat surface with a rail on either side to support a router with an oversized baseplate? Put a large (1" or so) diametermortising or bottom cleaning bit in the router and plane the surface with that working back and forth typewriter style.

or ,. ,. . . you could try a handplane. Say a number 5 or 6. They really do excel at just that, flattening stock.

Make sure it's well tuned and really sharp!!

I know, I know, this is the power tool forum but I just couldn't resist.

Cheers!
