Wood gathering Gloat!

Steve Shlumpf and I finaly got back to AuTrain for some more wood today. We got several pieces of cherry, and Maple. Enough to fill the bed of Steve's PU. It was great to have the oportunity to spend the day doing a part of the hobby that is rare, and a pleasure. I took some snashots. and would like to share them with you. Please note the most wonderful block of wood lifter that my friendjack has on his tractor. It saved our backs. Also note the woodpile that Steve is standing in front of. There are lots of bowls in that pile. It is twice again as long as what you see. It is cheaper fuel than gas or oil. :eek::D:D:D

Bob and I had lots of fun yesterday (thanks Bob!) and it was great to meet his friend Jack! It's always fun to be able to get into the woods and just breathe the fresh air!

Bob's photo of the wood pile I am standing in front of is actually Jack's firewood pile! I would love to just back the truck up and load in some of that wood as some of the cherry and maple there was beautiful stuff! Jack did allow us to remove some of the stumps and that is what is in the back of my truck.

It was a lot of fun and plan on giving Jack a big cherry or maple bowl out of this wood - which ever one turns out the best!

Bob what did you use to seal them ?

I didn't, Steve did. I believe he used anchor seal. He told me it was the wax like stuff. Almost all of that is wood for him and his 1642 "Mayo". I will keep the 8" log for small bowls on my 1236 HF.

A most EXCELLENT haul of turning stock.....but....I "would" say that somebody was being "relaxed" by using a tractor to load that wood. :p:p
Some of us have to do it all by hand. :D

So what you are saying is that when I 'have to buy wood' I'm paying for the sweat and turmoil... not the wood? ;)
