This is the second natural edge bowl I made, my fifth overall turning.
Cork Oak, 5.5" at its widest point, 2.75" tall, about 3/16 thick, with danish oil. I turned this mid to late June and the bark has held fine with no help. Please feel free to critique, all suggestions welcome.
Thanks for looking, Tom

WOW. I need to get ahold of some cork oak to turn!! HA!
This piece is especially nicel figured. Kudos on keeping the bark on without CA glue!! I like the rounded edges of the foot-it could be a trick of the picture, but it looks nice. way to go.

Very impressive work Tom! Great form, beautiful wood and amazing bark! You have an eye for form and experience or not you seem to be able to bring that form to life! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! Seriously, very nice work! Keep it up!

WOW Tom, I looked at he first picture, and said all bark and no wood !!!
And I was wondering if it was Cork Oak, I never turned Cork Oak, but have turned red and white Oak, and always like the grain and the rays in the wood.
I really like the look of this wood and yes you did a beautiful job turning it, thanks for showing :-))).

Thanks for the compliments folks. I like turning this cork oak, but I couldn't compare it to other woods because I really haven't turned much else. Some of the wood is pretty heavily spalted and is more of an olive color. I'll try to use some on the next project so you can see. Thanks again, Tom

If you'd like to trade for something else, and you have a lot of cork oak, PM me.....

That is a beauty. The sapwood/heartwood/bark contrast is really amazing.

Great choice of species for this one! That cork oak is perfect for this kind of form. Nice job!
