round lip/edge on candle stand

Hi guys,
I know I've come to the right place for this question. I would like to make a candle stand with a round top (approx 18 inches dia.) I want to have a raised edge bead ( approx. 1/4 to 3/8" high) around the circumferance. How can I make the bead to create a shallow bowl effect. Any suggestions?

Mark, do you have access to a lathe?

You could use a scratch stock with the blade ground to the profile you're looking for, but it would be slow work, IMO.

Hi Mark, I would suggest removing the bulk of the material with a router, either electric or manual.

Then make a scratch blade to the profile you want and mount it in trammel to keep it perfectly round.
