Epilog FiberMark 20W

I am vectoring the date code of 08/08 on 304SS at 30% Speed, 30% Power, and 600DPI. The laser is focused at +0.00.

After they are done being marked, I need to swipe my finger across the 304SS to wipe away any "charring" that was left over. It doesn't take much to rub my finger across the date code, but if I continually do this a few hundred times, time starts to add up.

Any suggestions on how to eliminate the "charring"?

Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan,
How did you come up with those settings?

Hi Mike,
I saw that, I think he should give it to meeeee!!!!
I just thought the settings looked strange. I would have guessed 400 dpi, 100% speed and adjust down the power as needed.

The settings just came from trial and error. Any faster and the outlines of the numbers became rigid and any higher of a power really etched in the numbers.

I tried 30% speed, and 20% power today, but it was too faint. I also tried messing with the focus, to real no avail.

Next batch I may speed it up a bit so it doesn't spend as much time over any certain area.

I would reduce the resolution to 500 or 400 that should do it. Of course I have never operated such a machine so I'm only guessing.

And if you can't get it right, just ship it to me!
For text 300 dpi is fine.
Where are you located?

I'll try dropping the resolution to 400 the next go around leaving the speed and power settings at 30%.

Brian, we are located on the outskirts of Cleveland, Ohio.

I'd go to 300. Run as fast as it will go starting with 50% power and working my way up.
