I am trying to learn/use Autocad to generate a simple drawing of a speaker cabinet. Its all very new to me and one of the first things I noticed is the default unit of measurement is millimeters. I want to change this to feet/inches each time i open a new drawing. I realize the program is complex but is it too much to expect to make a simple drawing right away without a huge learning curve?

You'll find the setting under Diminesion Style. Make sure Alternate Units is not checked. That should put you back into Imperial Units.

Charles,
Type MEASUREMENT on the command line and if it shows a 1 (metric) you can switch to imperial by entering a 0 and saving. Then type DDUNITS on the command line and select which measure of imperial units in the resulting dialog box.

You may also need to go into the dimension style and change the dimension annotation units to fraction unless you want to have the dimensions show up in decimal form.
