About the end of May, Allen Neighbors posted some scoops he makes. Between other projects, I gave it a shot. These were a challenge and at the same time, alot of fun to turn. Thanks for the nudge Allen.

The first one came out crude but gave me hope. The middle one taught me the lesson on where the weak point is. The third one came out pretty good. It is Bois d'Arc and does not have a finish. It is used daily now.

Mark the third one looks good. Well done. I haven't tried one of those yet.

Mark,
Thought a bunch of us would try scoops the week after Allen's post. Mine was better than the middle one in your picture. Good handle on the first one and good scoop on the third.

Edit: Actually the handle on the middle one looks the best.

Mark - interesting scoops! Nice to see the progress through side by side comparison. Have you thought about turning the end of the broken handle into a small tenon and gluing into a bowl section? It would be a segmented scoop!?

Nice work - I can see where you have to be very conscience of wall thickness.
