Yeah, but if we could just find 1,198 more turners it'll only $10.00 each!

Make an offer , can you imagine what that beast would cost to ship at 10,000 lbs .

It's amazing what people will pay for this kind of wood. Mesquite, for example, is basically a pest wood in Texas as it sucks up all water around it. I have heard the tap root can go down 80 feet or more. Ranchers in West Texas will scrap the ground and burn it all in a pile.

If gas weren't so expensive, I would recommend some of you invest in a trip say to the San Antonio or Austin area - I'm certain a developer would load up your truck for free!

Then again, my economics professor did teach me this concept called supply and demand......I like cherry and there is no such supply native to Texas. Anyone want to trade?

I don't think this wood is worth that much. Take a closer look at the stump and trunks. The centers look rotten.

How much of this wood will be punked by the time you get it?

He's sealed the ends, but other than bowl blanks, how are you going to get enough straight long stock? Its all shorts and relatively narrow.

This may be ebony, but it isn't African Ebony.

I've got it on my watch list just to see what happens. My bet is he gets no takers. Check out his other auction - bunch of turning blanks - sorta.

Wow is right. He sure is proud of his wood. Holy Cow you can drive down there and get a truck load of better wood than that for just the cost of gas. I don't think he has bids or offers on any of his wood. Half of that tree is rotten from what I can see.

$12000 and you can't even drive it to the store to buy groceries!

Several months ago someone up here in north-central WA put a walnut tree on Craig's list. Big tree, about 3' diameter at the base, but judging from the picture no fancy grain. $15000. I still look up the ad from time-to-time so I can get a good laugh.

All his stuff seems expensive. Guess it wouldn't be too bad if you lived nearby

Bernie,
After Hurricane Dolly hit South Texas last week, there is certainly more of these down
as well as a lot of mesquite. Texas Ebony is absolutely beautiful, but not worth 12k.

I think he either forget his decimal point ($120.00 not $12000;)) or he's been smoking something illegal in most states.
