I need either bubinga or quilted maple ply for a conference table project I am doing. I have found veneer, but cannot find the ply. I am not a veneerer. Any ideas where to find either of these plywoods.

Thanks

Check with these guys, I think they fabricate custom panels to your specs, worth a look and a call.

Not sure if it was from them or another vendor but we have sourced quilted big leaf maple and zebra wood veneers on MDF core and ply core that were beautiful. Bubinga should be available. I think it was them, I can check at work next week, but I'm off for a week starting today.

They can definately do anything that you might want done in laying up fancy panels.

I bought some 3/4 bubinga plywood from these guys. I paid $126 Canadian for a 4 X 8 sheet. That was two years ago. Who knows what today's price is? They also have zebrawood, wenge, and jatoba plywood.

Exotic Hardwoods (link provided by Peter) will lay up any veneer to your specs and they do top quality work. They are not cheap and you don't indicate where you are so shipping may be a big factor. Look in the yellow pages under "Architectural Woodwork" or "Millwork" and you may fine a local pressing option.

To quote a section of the thirteenth warrior.

Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan: I am not a warrior.
Herger the Joyous: Very soon, you will be.

Sounds like a perfect time for a decent sized bag and a vac press.

I am thinking about doing a new kitchen table with burl veneer just so I can buy a press. :D
