My daily routine of watching Craigslist paid off last week. I found this Jet 15" planer for $500. It had never been assembled or turned on. I got a 220 line run yesterday and fired it up today after a lot of adjusting. It is awesome.

It's replacing a Dewalt 735 that has been a good planer, I just couldn't pass up the deal. The Dewalt weighs 92 pounds, the Jet is 500 +.

It will take a much bigger cut cleanly and is so quiet.

Here's a couple of pictures.

Did you put on a mask, and use a gun when YOU STOLE this planer? I have a Delta 15", which I paid $600 for, with extra set of sharp knives.

Quiet, is it a spiral head? Steve

Nice Curt. Very nice gloat.
I've owned that same planer for a few years now and love the beast. If it's quiet by comparison though. You're previous planer must have been a real screamer.

Nice gloat and excellent score

No, it's not. I'm guessing the mass of this type of planer reduces noise quite a bit. Or the fact its a conventional electric motor mounted in a cabinet below the device.

It's not much noisier cutting than idling.

With the Dewalt, and I'm not bad mouthing the Dewalt, I wore foam earplugs and muffs over top.

I did not take a weapon to the sale!

Fantastic score. Congratulations. I've seen some set ups where the DW 735 was mounted on top of a planer similar to that one. The posters said that both planers came in handy for some things.
