This is a piece of Austrian Pine from my MIL’s yard. She had cut the tree down some years ago and gave me a chunk to “make something for me” as a remberence. Finally made a large lidded box with a cherry rim. This lowly old pine shines for her now. Don’t know what she will keep in it but it can be some big cigars! (she sneaks one every-once-in-awhile). Hollowed with my homemade steel snake. 9 ½” tall and 5” across. 6 coats of wipe on poly buffed and waxed…Bill…

Bill - that is one nice looking box! The pine seems to have come to life - great colors and finish! I am sure your MIL will cherish it! Very nice work!

very nice, Bill. The creative cherry accent compliments the pine nicely!

Nice job Bill, on a soft wood and hard knots, and yes the Cherry color goes well with the grain and knot colors
Good looking box, thanks for showing :)
