I found a used band saw on my local Craigslist. I'm thinking what he is asking is a bit high, but would like some feedback. He has a Grizzly G1019 complete with a riser kit and three extra blades. He says the saw is practically unused and the lowest he'll take is $275 (down from his asking price of $300).

After doing some research, I believe that the G1019 which is no longer in production was only a little over $300 new. Grizzly still sells the riser kit for $32.50.

He claims that he paid over $100 for the riser kit alone and $20 each for the blades. By my math, I would think that $200 for the saw, $30 or so for the riser, and $60 for three blades (assuming they're new) adds up to $290 tops for what he has. Even if he did pay $100 for the riser kit, the fact that Grizzly sells it for $32.50 makes it no longer worth what he paid for it.

I've had my eye on the G0555 which would put me back $471.50 delivered. From what I've read, the G1019 is not a bad machine, but is a little less powerful and not as good for resawing. For my needs, I think it would suffice. Is he asking too much, or should I pull the trigger?

I think your calculations are correct. He is wanting too much, even if it is great condition. Used tools dont get new prices. Some people try their best to get all their money back. His comments on what he paid seems exaggerated.

If I was buying a Grizzly 14" band-saw & could use the Microsoft cash back program I would go for this one.
