Something about the word "junior" bothers me. How do you get a promotion around here or is that something I was supposed to read while registering?

If this is the same as a number of other forums, your "membership level" is based primarily upon the number of posts that you make. What the breakdown is 'tis a mystery to moi.

Everyone who registers is now a <font color="red">member</font>.

So now the question becomes....

When we see people graduating to Senior Member, it is because:

a) They are very knowledgable and helpful

b) They have too much time on their hands

c) They are opinionated and need to voice that

d) All of the above

e) None of the above

Just thinking out loud (while surreptitiously adding to my post count):D

Wait until you get my age and someone calls you "Junior"

p.s. all of the above in Grumbine's post

Ken

I feel the same way, JUNIOR ? I am even older than you. I don't know if the member classification can be removed but I for one would like to see it gone.

Bill

I'll go along with "all of the above". I saw your answer to what you were doing in 1974, and I can definately call you junior.

Just thinking here, I could have done this in two posts and increased my post count.

Ummmm . . . I'd have to say A, Bill.

Tim
02-14-2003, 3:25 PM
Or maybe that would be B . . . hmmmmmmmm . . .

Tim
02-14-2003, 3:26 PM
Then again, C is certainly viable . . .

Tim
02-14-2003, 3:27 PM
D is probably the easiest answer, I guess . . .

Tim

I think you've probably covered it in there somewhere, so I don't see the need for E . . .

Tim

Wow . . . I was trying to be the first to get Member status . . . but Keith thwarted me with that 30 second minimum rule . . . I'm feeling overwhelmingly surreptitous . . .

Tim

Oops . . . can't let that typo go unchecked . . . I meant surreptitious.;)

But when you are my age, getting carded for beer or being called a kid seems a little much. The bad part of this is when the pretty girls start calling you honey and sweetie. You know its bad when they don't feel threatened at all.

For all of you concerned about your title:

'<font color="red">Junior Member</font>' has been deprecated in favor of the newer-sounding <font color="red">New Member</font>.

This way, the title doesn't statutorily discriminate. ;)

Spotted that change a few minutes ago. Wow! I can't believe how hard you folks are working to build this gathering place on the creek bank.

I think they need to add a few categories to the member status:

Less than 10 posts, more than 6 months = budding lurker
<20 posts, > 1 year = lurker

<30 posts, > 2 years = professional lurker

Is it a negative to keep your mouth shut until you have something to say. The most noise is not necessarily the best arguement. That is the one that convinces, save it until it will hit home!

...saying that I always gripe about being on a computer. If it's something I like to do, the vehicle doesn't matter. Like I'm goofin' off here or sumpin'.

Hey Keith,

How many posts to gain the title of "Administrator"?

Am I gaining in stealth?

Keith Outten

W.C.

Being an Administrator is easy, it's the members here who contribute the content who have the most difficult job so Admin would be a demotion...something below Junior or New Member I think :)
