I'm thinking of making one and would like to know what size of rectancular steel they use in the thing. From the pictures it looks like 1" x 2" but I can't be sure. Figured maybe someone on here might have one and could do a quick check for me.

Thanks !
Lewis

I would suggest buying the Rockler Universal Mobile Base (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=2383&filter=mobile%20base) and instead of using lumber for the support pieces, use some 1.5" x 1.5" steel box tubing from Home Depot. This is much cheaper than buying a custom mobile base.

Hi Paul - thanks for the reply. That's an option I had not thought of. However, I am in a "welding mood" lately having come into a free welding unit from a buddy of mine and I wanted to try my hand at welding something myself. (I've practiced for all of about 1 hour so far on some scrap pieces :) ). If I make a mess of it though, your suggestion will be the back-up plan.

Cheers,
Lewis
