I saw somewhere A riving knife that bolts on to saws that don't come with one. I can't rember where I saw it but I'd sure like one.

Not a riving knife, but I added a Biesemeyer splitter to my ts a few years ago.

I'd be surprised if one of those existed. The Biesemeyer's the closest thing i've seen so far. Many folks have confused THAT with a real riving knife. Note: Just because it's curved and sticks up through the insert doesn't make it a riving knife :)

There's a inventor on another forum, that's built one and testing it.

It is not yet a product; here's the latest link I'm aware of:
http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=3772222&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=
And here is an earlier post with a view inside the saw:

It does move up and down with the blade, but it does not keep exactly the same distance and orientation to the blade as a real riving knife. If it is solid and stable, it sounds pretty good.

The guy who invented it already sells a splitter that you can slide up and down manually.

Thanks. I find no matter how sharp the blade, Maple likes to burn the edges. I'd seen something like the above set up. That's pretty cool.

Forgive me, I looked at this thread for information to post in another thread, but posted to this one instead. Sorry to resurrect the dead. Jim.
