This was my first attempt at a pierced turning. I thought that I had the walls thin enough, but they were still too thick. I free handed it with a Dremel and a fairly dull bit – still had to give it a try. The wood was from an ornamental pear that blew over in my coworker’s yard last year. I wanted to make it a natural edge, but too many catches later – its just a bowl. Measures about 3” high and 5ish wide. Thanks for looking!

Wayne,
Not too bad for your first. Some how I think the first of all new types of turning tend to be a learning experience and the ones that follow have the advantage of your previous experience.
Keep at it.

I read somewhere years ago that our SECOND project will be our best. I don't know if that is true, but that is a pretty good first. :):)
