Does anybody use a Gilliom Manufacturing Bandsaw for resawing? I have an 18" one that my father built in the seventies. It does not begin to track when attempt any resawing and it looks like it will take some modification to get it to work. Is it worth the effort or do I need to start shopping for a better machine?

Sounds like you need a fence. Try www.woodworkersworkshop.com They have all kinds of free plans for jigs including a resaw sled.
I have an 18" Guilliom bandsaw I bought this year from the guy who built it. It cuts well but I haven't tried resawing yet. I plan to build the sled and a resaw fence this month. You can't make a bandsaw cut straight like a table saw. You have to allow the wood to follow the drift of the blade. A resaw fence will provide a pivot point perpendicular to the blade which allows pivoting to either direction. Going slow will allow you to follow the blade through the wood; pivoting as needed to counteract the blade drift.
Clear as mud, right?
