A Denver auction house is selling old growth redwood from Red Rocks Amphitheater benches. I would expect it's nice lumber, but sheesh, the bids are up to $550!

I'm thinking a lot of locals want the bench lumber for nostalgia reasons. After all, The Beatles played there. Although, I'm not sure if those benches were in place at the time.

Remember the old saying that P.T Barnum is credited with saying?

True redwood is astronically expensive wich is what I was saying in an earlier post. I was at an auction on some redwood slabs and I quit at 50$ Most of the slabs sold for over 200. They had nice figure but hmmm redwood just doesn't get it for me that much. Now some nice Bocote thats the ticket there. I paid 550 for 16 bd. ft last year.

Now you know how we feel when we want to buy cherry, chestnut, black walnut, etc. out here in Northern California where the redwoods grow like weeds. We have to import traditional American hardwoods from the East Coast!
