I had just finished tweaking in my mid 90's Craftsman Contractor saw and got it to the point to where I was satisfied and here comes along a deal I couldn't resist. A local cabinet maker had just upgraded to a new Unisaw and had his Jet JTAS-10XL-1 just laying around and wanted $500 for it. When I got over there to pick it up he threw in a mobile base and a biesemeyer overarm guard! Not sure if $500 is gloat worthy but I'm just giddy about having a cabinet saw finally!!!

The jet may be a few years old, but I suspect coming out of a professional shop it was well cared for.

Todd, when I moved to Boston three years ago, I already had a new Jet JTAS-10XL but found a great deal on a right-tilt, blue model. So for the last three years I've had both in the shop. With my upcoming move, it was time to start slimming things down. So I just sold the blue Jet for $850 - so YES, you can gloat about yours. :) Great find. You'll love it, it's a great saw.

Be well,

Doc

If I'm not mistaken, that generation of the Jet LT saw also had a real Biesemeyer fence, too...my friend Russ's does! Nice deal. Congrats!

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I've spent a few hours cleaning everything up and checking alignments. I had to adjust miter slot to blade about .010" but the arbor runout was less than .001". It's sitting on the mobile base atm but I'm not sure I like the base, and with over 1,200 sq/ft. of shop space I really don't need it mobile. I hope to have it hooked to power this weekend and cut a few pieces of scrap and post some more details.

Oh yea, for $500 that is gloat worthy!

From the pictures it looks like it wasn't used or very little.

congrats.

Congrats Todd,
That looks like a beauty! Too sweet that he threw-in an overarm guard
and mobile base to a done deal!
I feel that when I upgraded from contractor saw to cabinet saw the
joy and quality of my work increased too...
That will serve you well for decades to come.
Now get out to the shop and throw some sawdust!
take it easy,
Walt
:)
