I wanted to try one of these since my buddy Curt Fuller makes them look neat. Harder than it looks. The bowl is walnut and measures about 8'' high with a seal coat finish.

The base is poplar, which is not the best choice of wood, but this was goin to be just a practice piece then decided to finish it. The pedestal is a separate piece from the base.

Good job. I love the look of offset turnings. I have yet to try one though. If your painting the wood, it really doesn't matter what kind of wood it is (my opinion).

I didn't use a chuck, just turned between centers and off centers.
