I wanted to try one of these since my buddy Curt Fuller makes them look neat. Harder than it looks. The bowl is walnut and measures about 8'' high with a seal coat finish.

Cool. Is it all one or did you join several parts? Either way, I like it.

The base is poplar, which is not the best choice of wood, but this was goin to be just a practice piece then decided to finish it. The pedestal is a separate piece from the base.

I think Dr. Suess would have loved this one too. It could be a flower from one of his worlds.

Good job. I love the look of offset turnings. I have yet to try one though. If your painting the wood, it really doesn't matter what kind of wood it is (my opinion).

What chuck did you use for the off-axis portion?

I didn't use a chuck, just turned between centers and off centers.
