I would draw it in my cad software up and figure it out but there has to be something out there that will do it for me that I don't have to buy?

Depends on your choice of OS. For Windows (:( ), there is Cutlist. (not Cutlist plus) http://www.delphiforfun.com/Programs/CutList.htm

I don't know about Mac, and I am STILL looking for one under Linux.

I have used this program in the past with reasonable results - much better than my eyeball. I have also used it, with the kerf width set to 4 or 5 inches, to set up runs for my vacuum bag. Thanks for the link to the latest version.:)

that works. I would do it with my cnc software but this is cut on the tablesaw so the layout needed to be different.

A good program that you can use for free is Sheet Layout (http://www.sheetlayout.com/). It will work for either sheet goods or lineal materials. There is a free version and several upgraded versions (more part capacity) that are also available for a fee. I have a paid for version and really like it. It is accurate and fast, well worth the small shop price.

Sketchup from google works on pc, mac and Linux. It is easy to use, and you can get a plugin called Cutlist 4.0 follow the links here:

it has a few issues, but its free and it works pretty well, both sketchup and cutlist

Tyler- Not to hijack the thread but I'm pretty new to Sketchup and have tried to get Cutlist into SU with no luck. Could you give me the steps to getting it into the program after unzipping?

Thanks!
