Couple of pics of my works underway. The vanity is nearly complete except it has not found its home nor a top since the trim work has been taking far more time than expected. The trim shown is nearly complete except for the picture rail. Thought I would share. By the way, all the trim and flooring was made on the shaper from rough sawn stock.

The vanity is great but those windows are fantastic.

Both projects are excellent. I'd love to have some trim around the windows in my new home that looks just like that. Thanks for sharing your work.

Can you show more detail of the soffit/crown molding that the lights are in? That looks like something I may want to do to ad some lighting in a couple of rooms.

Don, a friend is going to take some proper pics when I am done (only a couple of days) so I will add some more photos. The ceiling drop for the lights is really nice. The pot lights are on a dimmer switch and I can change the feel of the room in the evening. I can also change the angle of the pot lights to wash the wall with light. Hidden behind the band around the ceiling drop are four flourscent lights (small T8s') that I can turn on to flood the ceiling with light and make the room brighter when needed. I first started with the cheapo puck style pot lights, and those were crap. I am very pleased with the effect of the lighting. I am not sure I would use the low voltage ones again with all the transformers, but the advantage of these is you can fit them in smaller spaces since they do not need a housing provided you stick below 25W.

Very nice looking stuff Brad. I like that style of trim a big bunch.
Making flooring is a tedious task.... as is installing the trim.;)
Definately post more pics when you can!

Cheers.

Hello Brad,

Glenn/Rich:

Thanks.

Brad

I should be saying thanks to you, not vice versa ( or DARN YOU!!! :D).
I've been doing a lot of preliminary looking for a fixer-upper Craftsman house, and my ardor for one was beginning to cool.

C-man - real deal true C-man houses in my area are few and far between.
Most have been redone (butchered really) as Victorian wanna-be's.

After a glimpse of what one could look like (done right), I'm getting all fired up again. :)
Looking forward to seeing more pictures when you get the chance.
Very nicly done - blending "traditional" Craftsman with some modern upgrades(the lighting).

Brad, thank you. I'm looking forward to the more detailed pictures. My wife and I bought a new home. Unfortunately we can't afford a true Craftsman home, but I'm planning on adding as many of the interior details as I can that will at least give the interior that Craftsman "feel."

Rich, I finally took some pictures for you to show the lighting a bit better. I got side tracked with other projects and just was not getting around to the cleaning for pictures. Anyway, take a look. The lights hidden behind the trim are little T8 flourscents and the low voltage lights are 25W. The pic where only the low voltage lights are on show them at 100%. The effect when they are dimmed cannot be shown very well in a pic. Yes, the registers will be changed at some point, but I cannot find ones I like quite yet.

Just totally beautiful. I really admire the window trim. You should be proud of what you accomplished in that room.
