I need to make a bent lamination for kitchen countertop edging. the lamination is 12 feet long and has an 18 inch deflection. Is it better to glue this up bending slices off of the stock (i.e. 1/4" slices off of 6/4 stock) or resawing parrallel to the face grain, or does it matter.

I think you would notice all the joint lines more through the face grain when it's lammed up more than the edge grain if it's typical cherry. But 18" over 12' is fairly shallow. I'd want some other input but I think you could probably go thicker than 1/4" to reduce the number of lines and wood lost to the kerf.
