Not sure if anyone has seen this show, but the guys making these shingles are impressive to watch, especially since most of them still have their fingers. The segment is on the show titled Buoy Cleaner. Pretty good watch.

I saw that episode yesterday and was horrified as I watched. It didn't make sense to me.

Those guys are crazy. It was filmed about 5 miles from me. It is worse than it looks. I wwasnt sure how it was a dirty job. More like a dangerous job. One of the guys is a brother to one of my employees.

Nothing like danger to keep a person awake!

Actually, the part I thought was odd was the hand position behind the blade that the guide insisted on using.

Have seen that particular episode two or three times. Great show and a damned funny host - Mike Rowe.

I didn't understand the hand position either, but I guess after cutting 3 million shakes per year he should be the expert.

Steve, have you seen this operation in person?

I have seen the mill in action. It looks worse than it is. There is no other way to do the cutting.

Theres been alot of comments on here of practices seen that werent very safe. I have seen this episode and its the top one for danger.
There was another process with a big spinning blad that was very bad as well.Kind of out in the open if my memory serves me well.
