Hello all about 2 weeks ago Phil St.Germain posted about the maple burl he got from the road crew and I posted thank's for offering to share it with us all as a joke. Next thing I knew Phil had this chunk on it's way to me. THANKS PHIL!
It's 7.5x3.5" turned wet so it would get a little textured, finish is buffed AO I am pretty happy with this peice but as always coments and critques are welcome.

Beautiful work Bob! That's a hollow form to be proud of! Love the form, outstanding wood - lots of curl and charactor and a great finish! Seriously - very nice work!

I too like this piece, Bob. What did you mean by the statement " turned wet so that it would get a little textured"? How is its surface different than if you'd turned it dry? Did you sand it? Thanks for sharing.

No Randy,
I sanded and buffed it but as a burl like this dries little ridges and dimples appear and give it a very tactile feel even though the finish is smooth
