This wood is an army surplus tent pole that I think is Teak, but I'm just guessing from pictures. It's probably WWII surplus and harder than a rock to turn. The finial is dyed maple. It's 9.5" tall, 2.5 dia.

What they said. Probably the most beautiful tent pole on the planet! Are the sides straight, or ever so slightly curved? Appear to be the latter. Very elegantly done.
