See pics. I have a questions, is yours like this too?

The drum in the pic sticks out further than the table? So you cant sand a board over that drum ( right one) if your looking for a flat surface. It also makes it so that you cant sand a long board on the left side again because it wont be flat. I dont see any adjustments. It didint come with the book its an 80 inch 1.5 hp.
Also the table is off the belt by about 1 inch which is abummer for skinny boards.Theres two bolts underside of table I havent loosened yet to see if they will slide the table or it just holds table to base.

Thanks

What model is it? Griz keeps alot of current and outof date manuals on thier site. Could it be missing the end table? http://www.grizzly.com/images/manuals/g1140_m.pdf

even if it was that wouldnt make any difference in what I am asking. The table is on other end .
I will look more for the manuals but I was hoping to talk to someone that has one on here that could just take a look at theirs for me.

Sorry about that Craig, just trying to help. Looks like Dave's got it.

Craig,

Looks to me like your missing the motor drum cover. The other (idle) drum is the one that should have a table for. I don't think that it is intended that you sand over the motor drum.

I have the table-top version (basically the same with a shorter base). As stated it came with a small table that attaches to the end on the left side. The right side should have a dust chute shroud.

Dave thanks, can you look at yours and let me know if the drum behind the shround cover sticks like mine in the picture , thus lifting the sandpaper off the back it rest on for the first few inches.Mine does since that drum sticks out wider than the width the paper rides on. mI have the shroud off of mine.

Thanks again

The drum should be equal or behind the platen. Should not interfer with sanding flat surfaces with or without the dust shroud. Just needs adjusting back...

Any your sure of this becasue you have one? And know its not made like this? I dotn see any adjustments thats why I ask. Its built in 1991 the guy who bought a couple of years ago added 6 inches to height and painted it. Im not sure if anything else was done to it.

Because I own one and have used about every edge sander made from griz to custom made Weavers. You need to pull the belt and take more detailed pictures of whats going on. From the picture the platen looks like it is straight then beds out to meet the drum. Lil confusing in the picture.

Possible it being 91 it might be constructed differently. But I doubt it....

Craig,

I have a G1140 and just went to look at it. The drum on the motor is 4.25" in diameter. It has an adjustment (bolt in a slotted hole) to allow drum movement. Where your's sits proud of the sanding surface, mine is about .5 behind it. If you want pictures, I'll be glad to get you some and post them.

Craig-
Here is a picture of the drum from the top looking down-

And here is one looking at it from the side-

Now my model is a 1999, but I would think they would be similar. The motor bracket appears to have slots to where you can move it fore and aft.

Hope this helps and if you need any more info let me know.

Heres some more pics.I wrote grizzly saturday i havent heard from them yet. I also looked at schematic and manual couldnt see any adjustments for this drum. The yelllow roller is the other one thats paralell with the platen (sp).
Im just wondering if this is poor design or its the wrong roller.
